After the Lake County Urban League received a donated building badly in need of remodeling, JJH volunteered to take charge of building renovations. In addition to supplying labor and contributing financially, JJH solicited the needed materials, labor and money to compete the renovations.

JJH President David Henderson recruited JJH personnel to find subcontractors and suppliers willing to lend a hand. Their efforts generated valuable contributions of materials and labor from many JJH vendors as well as a number of companies who offered financial assistance.

In recognition for JJH’s help, the Lake County Urban League presented JJH with the President’s Award and Staff Appreciation Award. Mr. Handy explained that the President’s Award is given to individuals and organizations whose contributions “go above and beyond the call of duty,” and the Staff Appreciation Award honors individuals recognized by the Urban League staff.
