| Description: |
The new 30 MW, 10,000-square-foot electrical
generating power plant consists of five Caterpillar 5.9 megawatt
generators powered by natural gas-fired reciprocating engines
(with greater than 45% efficiency), a 12.7 kilovolt connection
to an existing 34.5/12.47 kilovolt substation, and SCADA (control)
system with interconnection to Geneva’s existing system.
The electrical power plant can be monitored and controlled on
site and remotely at Geneva’s Public Works Department.
This plant will help ensure competitive energy rates and save
the City of Geneva approximately $177 million, in peak energy
costs, over the next 40 years.
