| Description: |
This project, built for Kirk Development
and the Village of Huntley, tripled the capacity of the existing
wastewater treatment plant. Design and construction took only
12 months, allowing Kirk Development no delays in closing 1,300
homes. Phase two of the project increased the size of the plant
to 1.8 million gallons per day. The wastewater treatment plant
includes oxidation ditches, aeration tanks, clarifiers, UV channel
and a sludge thickening tank.
Well #10 produces 1,000 gallons per minute and includes a 2,500-square-foot
water treatment facility, chemical feed and chlorination equipment,
a remote monitoring system and a 1 million gallon elevated water
storage tank. Extensive dewatering of the site prior to the start
of construction allowed completion of required excavation work.
Implementation of a fast-track schedule enabled a mid-winter construction
start. The water treatment plant was fully functional in eight
months.
