| Description: |
This project was under a very tight schedule
due to the fact that DRH Cambridge Homes absolutely had to close
and occupy homes by August 1, 2005. The site and concrete work
proceeded throughout the winter to meet the tight schedule. After
breaking ground, the wastewater treatment plant was completed
in 7½ months and the water treatment plant in 8½
months.
The 1 million gallons per day wastewater treatment plant includes
a control building, influent screen building, aerobic digester,
two clarifiers, oxidation ditch, sand filter building, and sludge
storage pad. The treated water will be stored in a 35-acre lagoon
and used for irrigation of surrounding areas. This is the largest
zero-discharge wastewater treatment plant in the state of Illinois.
The water treatment plant consists of a 1,400 gallons per minute
ion exchange facility and two deep wells.
